Week 1 Spring

This has been an eventful week. The first thing that had to be done was to go over my manual and job description to refamiliarize myself with my duties. The first major duty that I tackled was preparing the Abstracts for Jurying. Initially I found that a lot of our new teammates were having trouble finding the abstracts. I found it made it much easier to create a folder for abstracts. The next thing I did was to make sure I delegated work to my assistants and helped make sure they were comfortable using google drive and trello. We had an initial meeting together before we met with the operations department on Monday. It allow them to ask me questions and guide them in the proper direction. I also had the duty of getting the films together so that we can begin jurying this tuesday. One thing I found was that some people uploaded their film rather than uploading the vimeo link we asked for. I have realized that means I will have to email those without a proper link in order to be able to get them juried.  The good thing however is that most people did follow the directions so it will not take up to much time. I also made sure to make a resumes folder so that the staff can insert theirs and it will be easier for Beth to locate. My team and I also have been putting the in the rest of the info in for the film submissions and for the most part we are done except for a few that are hard to find. I think next year should require them to put in their Schooling and contact info to simplify the process next year. It can be very frustrating trying to use google and facebook to figure out. I never realized how much work Jonathon had last semester until know but I am more than ready to take on the course load. We have a while to go until the end but we can make this a great year for Visions.
