Week 16
This last week going in was not as eventful as what I have become used to.It was nice not to have to worry about how the event was going to go or if everything had been accounted for. I enjoyed having to reflect on the day of the event in class it helped me really think about what went well and what should be changed. One big thing I made sure was to go into the manual and make updates for the next director. I made sure to include music curation and trailer protocol for next year. Even if next year programming director does not make them they will be able to give whoever does a framework for it. My key goal this week was to edit the Keynote Address. I found that one of our cameras did not get the crowd reaction shots or people asking questions during the q&a so I had to work around that. I do feel like the slides helped make the address more interesting. It gave me some trouble at one point I had edited it and the program crashed and I had to re-edit. Then it decided it didn't want to export so I had to make a whole new sequence and then put it in and exported it from there. All in all I think it came out well. I am in a weird place coming into this next class because it is my last class not only as a Visions staff member as well as undergraduate class with Shannon. I have learned so much in the past two years and I can't wait to take it with me into the real world. I believe I am prepared to take on the world now with a strong sense of confidence.

Week 15
I can confidently say this was the best Visions to date. I was truly amazed by the how smooth everything went especially compared to last year. When I looked out into the audience it was great seeing all the bright smiling faces. From the filmmakers and scholars to the guest it looked like everyone was truly enjoying themselves. When it came time to set up the installation I got very nervous about everything going smoothly. One of my hoopers injured herself and still wanted to hoop but I told her not to sacrifice her health. Even with one hooper it went great. It actually went a lot better than I expected. I was happy to see how much it resonated with the audience. Tyesha's poem went so well with it I was amazed. I grealty enjoyed my video race team and it was a ton of fun. I think we had potential to win however the wind outside ruined our sound and made it hard to get. But when I think about it there is no way we could have beat Tyler's group. I loved the Keynote address and it was very inspiring. My favorite part however was the after party. It was great to get to see the staff actually get to celebrate and be able to truly engage. I had so many good conversations with not only the guests but with some of our professors. Everyone was so open and friendly it was a great atmosphere. The only bad thing about the after party was I missed all the wings because I had to help clean up lumina but I was not to upset about it. I was exhausted afterwards however from all of the ripping, running, and driving and crashed saturday evening once I got back from Danville, VA. All in all Visions6 was great and I can't wait to come back next year and see it from the viewpoint of a filmmaker. Yes I plan on putting in all of my recent projects in for consideration next year.

Week 14
Oh my god this is the big week. We have done a lot gearing up for the event. The first thing I had to do this week was cultivate the ambient music to create the atmosphere for the day of the event. I went with a space ethereal feeling that I felt matched visions well. I made sure to get into contact with Tyesha and set the time for pick up. We talked about logistics for the installation and she felt like she was very ready. I made sure to also contact Vicky and tell her about the final plans for the installation. I met with Channing to obtain the third projector so everything would run seamlessly. One big apprehension I had was whether the screen would actually work. That is when I had Big Rob help me demo the screen and surprisingly for my first time sowing and a couple mistakes it still worked well. I made sure to insure Carson had requested all of the proper things and made sure to ask Dave if it was ok to get 2 desks from kings. I am very nervous but I think it will go well. Another thing I had to do was prepare for moderation for Visions. I met with Mariah and we came up with a little script to make sure we hit they key points. It was more like bullet points that helped guide us. I also met with Rob to determine how we would open up the festival and we decided that I would welcome everyone and he would inform them of the rules for the day. We have a special surprise that everyone will find amusing. The directors also made sure to insure that the Video Race team had everything they would need in order to do make everything go smoothly. We also got together and created the detail schedule for the day of the event. I also had alot of fun at the bakesale and enjoyed tabling.

Week 12
This week was very eventful. The first thing I did this week was trimming down the trailer so that it was good enough to launch publicly. My initial cut was a little long and the pacing was slow. I went in and added some dynamic titles and paced it with the music. I heard a lot of people liked it but by the end of it I hated it. I also made sure to meet with Dr.Sue for moderation. She told me a lot of things that were very useful. She helped me and Mariah think about introduction and taught us to never leave the podium open. We will definitely be prepared to announce the keynote. I also reached out to Tyesha this week and shared with her what all I would need from her. She is very excited and seems like a sweetheart. I also created the dropbox for the crowdsource footage for the installation and quite a few people have already put their clips in. I plan to have the film edited by this weekend. Samantha has giving me the info to contact a hula hoop girl to perform during it as well. I am excited to really get everything together. I reached out to Channing Duke and am awaiting a response. I also presented in two classes about visions and the classes seemed pretty responsive. The professor told me we did a good job so that also made me feel comfortable. I also set up time to meet with Simone and Mariah to talk installation logistics. We also are figured out we will sow the screens this coming wednesday and thursday. I have to make sure Carson put in the equipment request forms for the projectors and the screens. We also did a lot of editing to the program this weekend so that the art squad could get it to printing.
